Hierarchy View

The Hierarchy view allows you to see a representation of the parenting of various objects within SynthEyes, especially cameras, moving objects, trackers, and meshes.

You can also make various changes in parenting, as permitted.

NOTE : the hierarchy shown is that of GeoH tracking, ie where moving objects may be parented to one another. There's a simpler underlying hierarchy where all moving objects are parented equally to their camera, not to one another.

This view is also available as a floating panel or as a (secondary) control panel, for example on the default GeoHTrack room.

Each line contains up to six elements:

a disclosure triangle, if the item has children (click to change),

the item name (double-click to change), in italic if it is a mesh,

a visibility control to show/hide the item (click to change),

a color swatch (click to change),

an exportable control, either E (exportable) or e/ (a slashed lower case e, indicating not exportable (click the control to change),

a lock icon for objects, meshes, and trackers (click to change).

When an item is selected, that line is drawn with a light blue background. If the camera or moving object is the active tracker host, it is drawn with a maroon background.

In addition to the various click options described above, the following operations are available:

Clicking a mesh will select it immediately.

Click a camera or moving object, and it will become selected and the Active Tracker Host.

Clicking a tracker will select it. The Active Tracker Host will be changed, if necessary, to the tracker's owning object. (Why? Only trackers that are children of the Active Tracker Host can only be selected.)

Clicking off the end will unselect everything.

Shift-click to multi-select contiguous trackers or meshes.

Control-click to toggle an item's selection status.

Control-clicking the visibility or lock icon will set the state of all the GeoH children in a rig, in addition to the clicked object.

Shift-clicking the color swatch of a mesh or tracker will additionally select all meshes or trackers (on the current object) with the same color.

Control-clicking the color swatch of a mesh or tracker will toggle the selection of all meshes or trackers (on the current object) with the same color.

Dragging a moving or GeoH object, mesh, or tracker will reparent it to the camera or moving object it is dropped onto. Acceptable drop targets (new parents) will change to green before you drop.

Dragging a mesh to a GeoH object that already has one will present the option to replace the existing mesh with the new one, while preserving the painted vertex weights (same as Geo Mesh Replace script).

Dragging a mesh past the left edge will remove its parenting (ie reparent to root).

While dragging one or more trackers or meshes or a moving or GeoH object to a new owner, holding CONTROL will cause the trackers, meshes, or objects (including children) to be cloned.

While dragging trackers, meshes, or objects to a new owner, holding SHIFT will cause their parent-relative position to be left unadjusted, rather than corrected for the changed ownership to maintain the same ultimate world-space location.

Splines can be dragged or cloned to a new camera or on top of an existing spline (to adjust the ordering directly).

Use the middle mouse button to pan the view.

Control-drag to scrub the timeline, release control to scrub faster, and hold shift to scrub even faster.

Use the scroll wheel to scroll the view vertically.

The view will also auto-scroll when dragging an object vertically beyond the top or bottom of the view.
