This view shows the maximum error of all selected trackers over the current playback frame range (small green/red triangles at top of timebar). The maximum error in horizontal pixels of any selected tracker is shown numerically, labeled in lower case as "hpix."
Note : "error" means the distance between the 2-D position of the tracker's solved XYZ coordinates, projected into the image (ie the yellow X), and the tracker's actual position in the image.
If no trackers are selected, then the per-frame error is shown for each frame, (root-mean-square, RMS) averaged over all trackers. The object's overall error value (from the Solver panel) is shown, labeled in upper case as "HPIX."
Bonus! If the camera/object isn't solved yet, the error view shows the count of how many trackers are tracked on both the frame and the following frame. This helps you identify areas requiring more trackers. (The simple tracker count alone does not suffice; trackers must be valid on a frame and the following frame to let the camera motion from one frame to the next to be determined) .
If a non-hybrid GeoH tracker is selected, an image-difference figure of merit is shown, from 0% to 100%.
When the preference "Error View only for sole tracker" (in the User Interface section) is on, then the error curve is shown only when exactly one tracker is selected... However, if all trackers are selected, then the overall RMS curve is shown, and the overall scene error value (from the summary panel) is shown. This preference can be used for very large scenes if the error curves are take too long to compute and you want to be selective. Similarly, with the preference on, if all trackers are selected and the object isn't solved, the tracker count curve is generated.
The error curve and numeric value are colored green, yellow, or red according to color thresholds set in the User Interface section of the preferences.
Note : in the error curve mini-view, errors are not weighted according to the tracker weights on the tracker panel, or the transition weighting from the solver panel, so that you can see the actual errors.
If a single unsolved tracker is selected, its tracking figure of merit (FOM) curve is shown in blue, which is helpful during supervised tracking.
If the error curve view has nothing to display, it is not shown. A dashed vertical line shows the current frame.
Left Mouse: Click and optionally drag to go to a different current frame within the playback frame range (small green/red triangles at top of timebar).
Right Mouse: Click to cancel an ongoing left-drag.
Right Double-click: Resets the playback range to the entire shot.
