SynthEyes 1502 3-D Tracker Refreshes for Fusion

Enhanced Support for Blackmagic Design's Fusion 7 Compositing App

* February 3rd, 2015. For immediate release.

Andersson Technologies LLC (Phoenixville, PA) has announced SynthEyes 1502, the latest version of its 3-D tracking and match-moving application for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Blackmagic Design's recent decision to make Fusion 7 free of charge has led to increased interest in that package. While SynthEyes has exported to Fusion for many years now—for projects such as Battlestar Galactica— Andersson Technologies LLC upgraded SynthEyes's Fusion export to even better complement Fusion with the wide range of SynthEyes's current capabilities.

The 3-D Fusion export now supports 3-D planar trackers; primitive, imported, or tracker-built meshes; imported or extracted textures; multiple cameras; and lens distortion via image maps. A second, all new, exporter creates corner pin nodes in Fusion from 2- or 3-D planar trackers in SynthEyes.

The new lens distortion approach uses image maps to describe the distortion so that it is easy to exactly reproduce a complex distortion pattern without relying on custom plugins to reproduce the underlying mathematical formulas. With lens distortions calculated in SynthEyes and applied and removed inside Fusion, the lens distortion workflow is faster, simpler, and more flexible. The same approach may be used with a variety of applications in the future.

SynthEyes 1502 adds other features such as an error curve mini-view, a DNG/CinemaDNG file reader, a refresh of the user interface, and more. A longer list is available on the new features page at https://www.ssontech.com/nufeat.html, and the full list of changes is available from SynthEyes 1502's help menu.

There are six new tutorials, including three on Fusion, available at https://www.ssontech.com/tutes/tutelatest.html

The free demonstration version of SynthEyes on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux can be downloaded starting at https://www.ssontech.com/regis.html Tutorials on SynthEyes are available through the website—there are approximately 155 with 18 hours runtime at present.
