Key Mapping

SynthEyes offers keyboard accelerators for menu entries, various control buttons, and Sizzle scripts, as described in the keyboard manager reference section.

Keyboard accelerators for menu operations are accessed with control-whatever on Windows and Linux, and command-whatever on macOS. So you'll see something like control/command-A meaning control-A on Windows/Linux, command-A on Mac.

Similarly, anything referring to the ALT key on Windows/Linux refers again to the command key on the Mac. ALT-left means hold down the ALT key and click the left mouse button; on a Mac use command with the left mouse button. Note that the Mac's Opt key is not used in SynthEyes; command is used instead.

You can change the keyboard accelerators from the keyboard manager, initiated with Edit/Edit Keyboard Map or by changing the keybd14.ini file in your File/User Data Folder.

Important! SynthEyes keyboard shortcuts are not remapped to account for non-US keyboard layouts. For example, on a German keyboard, where Y and Z are swapped versus US keyboards, the Undo command control-Z will appear as control-Y on the German keyboard. While it would certainly be less confusing if control-Z stayed as control-Z, the keyboard layout is largely chosen based on finger positions, especially ASDF. Given that, leaving the shortcuts in the same physical location makes the most sense!

Note that the tracker-related commands will work only from within the camera view, or when one is visible, so that you do not inadvertently corrupt a tracker.

On Windows, you can also use Windows’s ALT-whatever acceleration to access the menu bar, such as ALT-F-X to exit.
