Windows High-DPI

Windows has gone through several iterations of high-DPI support, steadily gaining capability. For a reasonably capable experience, you must be running Windows Version 1703 or later (type winver into the search box or command prompt). Earlier versions may be usable to varying degrees but we will not work to support them.

SynthEyes will be recognized as per-monitor dpi-capable, meaning that you can shift SynthEyes windows among high- and standard-DPI windows.

You should verify that your high-DPI monitor(s) are set up to run at 200%, and standard-DPI monitor(s) at 100%, using the Windows’s Display Settings panel. The control is (currently) labeled “Change the size of text, apps, and other items.”

If you want to run at a different scaling factor (125-175%), or are using an older version of Windows, you can use the High DPI Mode setting in the Appearance section of SynthEyes’s preferences to lock all windows of SynthEyes into Low or High DPI mode. To use Windows scaling exclusively, select the Dumb mode. Restarting SynthEyes is necessary after changing the mode.
