Using an Existing Language Translation XML

You can look on the SynthEyes website to see if there are any available language translation files at the Community Translation Project webpage . If there is a

suitable one available, you can download it; read on for installation. If not, skip ahead to the section on Creating a New Language Translation XML.

SynthEyes language XML files must be installed in either the user or system script folders to be visible and usable in SynthEyes. You can locate these folders from inside SynthEyes by clicking the Script/User script folder or Script/System script folder menu items. Language files in the system folder are available to all users on the system, files in the user folder are available only to you.

Open either of these folders and copy the XML file into the MultiLingual folder within it. You may need to authenticate with your operating system to copy into the system script folder. If SynthEyes is already running, click File/Find New scripts.

To begin using a new translation file, open the preferences (Edit/Edit Preferences) and select the language in the UI Language field on the right side of the preferences panel. Click OK to save the change and close the preferences panel.

Restart SynthEyes to begin using the new translation file. See the later section on Tracker etc Names for additional usage information. If the language file contains menu translations, you should turn off the “And menus too” option in the preferences.

To return to an unmodified interface, set the UI Language preference back to the empty entry and restart.
