The "Edit Mesh"

At any time, SynthEyes can have an Edit Mesh, which is not the same as saying it is selected. The Edit Mesh has its vertices and facets exposed for editing. A mesh can be the Edit Mesh and not be selected, and it can be selected without being the edit mesh.

If, in the perspective view, you select a cylinder, for example, and click Set as Edit Mesh on the right-click menu, you’ll see the vertices. Right-click the Lasso Vertices mode and lasso-select some vertices, then right-click Mesh Operations/Delete selected faces, and you’ve knocked a hole in the cylinder. Right-click the Navigate mode. (See the Lasso controls on the Edit menu for rectangular lassos.)

You can set a different edit mesh, or use the Clear Edit Mesh option so that there will be none.
