Planar Control Panel

The Planar control panel runs the show for creating and tracking 2- and 3-D planar trackers. See also Planar Options and I Don't See the Planar Room.

The mouse operations of the camera view are taken over by the Planar Control Panel when it is open and active. See Planar Trackers in the Camera View for details.

The Planar control panel contains a standard play area at the top; these are not discussed further here.

Planar trackers also utilize the Key Every setting that appears only on the regular tracking panel.

image

Planar Tracker Mini-View. Shows the interior of a planar tracker, regardless of actual size. Note that there can be some slight differences between what's actually happening and what you see, especially with Auto-Masking, because of the different display size here and the full size used for processing. See Planar Trackers in the Tracker Mini-View.

Create. image Mode Button. Once turned on, click four times in the camera view to create a planar tracker. It then turns off. Hold down the 'C' key and left-click to begin creating a planar tracker also.

Delete. image Button (also Delete key). Deletes the selected tracker(s) or other objects.

If nothing is selected when the button is clicked, then delete-tracker-mode is

entered or left. In this mode, simply clicking or lassoing a tracker deletes it, which is helpful when cleaning up autotracks before they have been solved. Delete- tracker-mode is automatically exited when this tracker panel is closed (even if a new one opens immediately thereafter).

Channel Select. image Flyout button. Selects the channel(s) used internally for tracking.

The multicolor display shown here is for full RGB tracking. Red, green, or blue options are available, as well as the default monochrome image and alpha image . Note that RGB processing predictably requires about 3 times as long for the affected stages of processing. Don't forget the Shot Settings panel's Keep Alpha checkbox when using the alpha channel.

RGB Display Enable. image or image Button. Determines whether the tracker mini-view shows the full RGB image (ie with the RGB icon shown first), or just the channel actually being used with the monochrome icon.

Lock. image Button. Lock or unlock the tracker. Lock the tracker to prevent changes when tracking is complete. Not animated.

Color. image Rectangular swatch. Sets the display color of the tracker for the camera, perspective, and 3-D views.

Auto-Mask Mode. image Flyout button. Auto-Mask is disabled, enabled in monochrome mode, or enabled in RGB mode in the three icons shown.

Direction. image Button. Configures the tracker for forwards or backwards tracking: it will only track when playing or stepping in the selected direction.

image

Enable. image Button. Animated control turns tracker on or off. Turn off when tracker gets blocked by something or goes offscreen, turn back on when it becomes visible again. Right-click, shift-right, and control-right delete a key, truncate, or delete all keys, respectively.

Contrast. Number-less spinner. Enhances contrast in the Tracker Mini-View window.

Bright. Number-less spinner. Turns up the Tracker Mini-View brightness.

Options. Button. Pops up the Planar Options panel (or closes it if open).

Planar Motion Type. Dropdown. Here "3D Perspective". Selects whether the planar tracker is 2- or 3-D, and what values change and which vary in each case. See Selecting a Planar Tracker Mode.

Detail Mode. Dropdown. Here "Low". Selects one of three types/levels(Low/Mid/High) of processing based on the kind and amount of detail in the search pattern. See Selecting the Detail Mode.

Lighting Mode. Dropdown. Here "None". Selects a type of lighting compensation, to accommodate changes between the reference and current images. Currently either None or Uniform. See Lighting Compensation.

Own FOV. Spinner. Shows the field of view required by this (3-D) planar tracker, which can be different on each frame for zooming or improperly-tracked planar trackers. When it is unlocked (on the main frame) you can change the spinner value, and the corner points will be adjusted to enforce that field of view.

3-D Aspect. Spinner. Shows the aspect ratio of the tracker on this frame. Unlocked and changable on the main frame.

3-D Size. Spinner. Sets the 3-D width or height of the planar rectangle in the 3-D environment, which specifies the overall size and distance scaling of the tracker. Used to enter on-set measurements. Chosen automatically when size is zero.

Width. Radio button. The 3-D Size spinner is a width when this button is selected.

Height. Radio button. The 3-D Size spinner is a height when this button is selected.
