Using the Advanced Technical Controls

SynthEyes is a tracking tool, and as a tool it has a number of technical algorithmic controls that are at your disposal to address different situations. There are no hard and fast rules that dictate exactly which buttons to push: there are different ways to do the same thing, resulting in different tracking times and accuracy. (This is why tracking is an art!)

These controls shouldn't have to be used that often, and accordingly are accessed by clicking the Advanced button, which causes a small menu to drop down. (There are also a few very technical preferences and Sizzle/Synthia-only parameters, but they are not discussed here.) The Advanced button turns blue to let you know when these controls are active.

We'll provide some suggestions as to when to use the controls. Note that Affect Parent is a different type of control, see the earlier section on it. It appears both as a checkbox and an item on the Advanced menu.

Note that they all involve more computer power, slowing the tracking rate. So a sensible strategy is to try tracking without them, and only turn them on as necessary.
