Smudge Mesh

With Smudge Mesh, you click and drag to pull vertices in the direction you want, parallel to the image plane. It can be used to refine an approximately-correct mesh to better match a shot, by repeatedly smudging it at different frames throughout the shot. For example, you can take a rough human mesh from a tool such as Poser or MakeHuman, and customize it to match the actual subject.

The smudge tool is controlled by the Surface/Thru selection, brush size, strength, Softly, and Range controls. See the discussion of them above, and the Softly control below, for more detail.

You can use the mouse wheel before or during smudging to change the range (Softly: Yes) or size of the brush (Softly: No).

While the normal operation is to click and drag vertices on the selected mesh, you can control-drag to move them perpendicular to the image plane. In that case you should typically have a secondary or quad view to monitor the amount of motion.

You can also click on a different mesh to select it instead.
