Self-Calibration

It may be possible to self-calibrate based on existing match-move, if it is a very solid solve with many trackers well distributed across the image. (You can increase the tracker count parameters on the Feature panel's Advanced dialog before autotracking to enhance that.)

When you solve the scene, you can enable Calculate Distortion. Unfortunately, since the distortion that gets calculated is only for simple types, the errors due to the un-compensated distortion will get baked into the XYZ data, and thus may not wind up being calculated. The more the camera motion explores the entire 3D environment, the less this should be an issue, but nonetheless it is a conceptual limitation of self-calibration method.

After solving, be sure to do careful tracker cleanup, so that tracking problems don't create spurious lens distortions.

Make sure there are no far trackers, the Known XYZs calibration isn't compatible with that. Enter the following to Synthia: delete all far trackers.

Be sure to enter the computed lens field of view as the estimate on the Lens Master Calibration dialog's Estimated Field of View input.
