Recommended Minimum PC Configuration

  • Intel or AMD "x86" processor with SSE2, such as a Core/Core 2 Duo, Athlon 64, Opteron, or Pentium 4. Older Pentium 3 and Athlon XP and MP processors will not work, sorry. 
  • Windows XP, Vista. Supports XP's 3GB mode.
  • 32-bit version runs under Windows XP 64 Pro or 64-bit Vista. A separate native 64-bit SynthEyes version is available at a slight extra cost.
  • 1GB RAM typical, 512 MB suggested minimum RAM. 2+ GB typical for pro, HD, and film users. 4+ GB strongly recommended for 8-core systems.
  • 3-button Mouse/trackball with middle scroll wheel/button. There are UI features, including click-on/click-off to help tablet users.
  • 1024x768 or larger display, 32 bit color, with OpenGL support. Large multi-head configurations require graphics cards with sufficient memory.
  • DirectX 9.0c or later recommended, required for DV and usually MPEG.
  • Quicktime 5 or later recommended, required to read .mov files.
  • Approx 20 MB disk space to install.

Recommended Minimum Mac Configuration:

  • Intel Mac,  G5 or G4 PowerPC Mac. 
  • 1GB RAM typical, 512 MB suggested minimum RAM. 2+ GB typical for pro, HD, and film users. 4+ GB strongly recommended for 8-core systems.
  • 1024x768 or larger display, 32 bit color, with OpenGL support. Large multi-head configurations require graphics cards with sufficient memory.
  • 3 button mouse/trackball with scroll wheel. There are some UI features to help tablet users.
  • Mac OSX 10.4 or 10.5 Leopard. Leopard with 4 or 8-core processors, be sure to use 10.5.3 or later, which fixes a OS X bug, resulting in substantially improved multicore performance.
  • Approx 30 MB disk space to install.

Recommended Minimum User Configuration & Fine Print:

  • A user familiar with general 3-D animation techniques such as keyframing.
  • A supported 3-D animation or compositing package to export paths and points to. Can be on a different machine or operating system.
  • The Mac versions can read PC files, and vice versa.
  • PC, Win64, and OS X licenses are separate (3 separate licenses); it is not a cross-platform or floating license, read more about multiple installs.
