Purchasing SynthEyes

You can purchase SynthEyes using a credit card or PayPal from our online store. What does it cost?

Like most software products, SynthEyes is sold "AS IS". See the license agreement. You should evaluate the free demo version to determine if SynthEyes is suitable for your purposes before purchasing. Be sure to double-check whether you are ordering the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version.

The SynthEyes product consists of a license to use it plus an electronic download. Your SynthEyes license includes one (1) year of support including the built-in Customer Care Center with automatic downloads of new builds and our famously responsive e-mail support.

Note that SynthEyes is a download-only product, at about 20 MB. You should save a backup version of the installer as part of your normal backup process. All the tutorials are available directly on the web site. (We're not fans of gigantic 3 GB installers that take an hour to run.)

When you purchase SynthEyes, you will emailed a serial number, instructions for downloading the full product, and a temporary authorization so you can get right to work. The email is sent before you even see the order acknowledgement page. Be sure to permit email from ssontech.com first and/or check your spam folder if you do not see the email soon after ordering. Note that delivery is subject to normal internet email routing delays, which can take a half-hour sometimes.

To generate the permanent authorization, you must complete a SynthEyes registration dialog, then email the resulting data to us. We will email back the machine-readable license data needed to activate SynthEyes, usually the next business day. For full directions, see the online tutorials.

Important Notes:

  1. The store accepts major credit cards, as well as PayPal. If you plan to use Paypal, you must already have the necessary balance in your Paypal account, not just in your bank account. 
  2. SynthEyes prices originate in U.S. Dollars(USD). You can purchase in USD or in selected local currencies, whichever works better for you. Quoted non-USD prices are based on rates from our card processor (not published inter-bank rates or your bank's rate) and may change at any time. You will be able to re-confirm any rate change before purchasing. Orders are charged in the currency selected: you can purchase in your local currency, or in USD if you get a better exchange rate from your credit card company (consider any foreign exchange fees your bank may assess). If you select a third currency, ie not USD and not your card's home currency, you will suffer multiple currency conversions, which will almost always cost you more. Due to the conversion from USD to your currency, the order form may have small rounding differences.
  3. The store uses state-of-the-art SSL encryption for form entry and communications. Credit card information is encrypted and immediately sent to industry leader PayPal for card verification and processing during automated order processing; we don't see it and it is not retained on any of our servers.
  4. Tax is collected for customers in Pennsylvania. Sales, use, or value-added taxes in other locations are the responsibility of the customer. Sorry, we can not produce "made-to-order" tax documents.
  5. Charges will appear as PAYPAL*SYNTHEYES on your card statement.
  6. As with most other video, music, and software sellers, all sales are final; returns or exchanges are not permitted except in exceptional cases at our sole discretion.
  7. Volume pricing is based on a smooth logarithmic scheme that works to your benefit: the price for 7 licenses will be somewhere between that for 5 and 10 licenses. Let the order form figure it out for you, just like we do.
  8. Customers upgrading to a current license must already own and retire a SynthEyes 2004, 2006, 2007, or 2008 license. Similiarly, if you purchase a cross-grade, the old license will be retired.
  9. You can upgrade from an earlier version and switch platforms at the same time; there is no extra cost for this. Order the upgrade to the desired (new) version, and supply it with your serial number from your previous platform.
  10. The 64-bit Windows version runs on Windows 7-64, Vista-64, or 64 XP Pro. Do not purchase 64-bit SynthEyes until you are already running a 64-bit OS—you can't run the SynthEyes 64 bit version on 32-bit Windows while you think about upgrading the operating system—the operating system upgrade must come first.
  11. The 64-bit OS X version requires OS X 10.7 Lion, 10.6 Snow Leopard, or 10.5 Leopard. You can check whether your machine can run 64-bit apps by doing 'Get Info' on Chess.app. If an 'Open in 32-bit mode' checkbox is present, the machine can run 64-bit apps.
  12. For PowerPC machines, only a 32-bit binary is available even in the 64-bit SynthEyes product; 64-bit PowerPC is no longer supported by Apple.
  13. "Universal" Mac OS X versions can be installed on only one machine of any type; more than one only under certain specific conditions, regardless of whether or not they are used simultaneously—that is not a factor. 
  14. The same conditions apply to installation on a workstation and laptop of any single platform.
  15. We must keep customer identification information on file; we can not license SynthEyes to anonymous purchasers. This protects you as well. We do not sell, rent, or exchange customer information.
  16. Ordering the product constitutes giving us permission to email you regarding your licenses and rare significant developments concerning the product such as new builds. We may offer you the opportunity to sign up for an email newsletter for communications regarding tips, new tutorials, and the like.
  17. To avoid delays, do not use free email services such as hotmail, yahoo, or especially AOL. Among other issues, these services tend to tag as spam, or delete, automatically-generated email, such as your SynthEyes order download and licensing information.
  18. Do not use one-off 'anti-spam' accounts. We do not spam you. It will delay generation of your licensing information. If you later request help from a different email address, you will not match up, and we will not be able to send licensing information to a different address.
  19. Please do not use a personal email account when purchasing SynthEyes for an employer and vice-versa, do not use an employer's email account when purchasing SynthEyes for your own projects. Either way, it puts the ownership of the license in question.
