SynthEyes Camera Tracker Updates to 2006½ - February 2, 2006

* Malvern, PA. February 2, 2006.

Andersson Technologies LLC is pleased to announce the 2006½ Edition of its SynthEyes(tm) camera tracking software. Highlights of the approximately 50 new features in the ½ update include:

  • Quick coordinate system wizard. You can click one button, then three trackers to set up the most common coordinate-system configuration.
  • Zero-weighted trackers (ZWTs). Good for marginal features that you don't want to affect the camera path. Even better, once you have an initial solve, you can use ZWT mode to calculate 3-D positions as you track, for rapid feedback.
  • Peg trackers to exact coordinates. Used when tracked points must exactly match a predetermined model or surveyed coordinates, such as a long highway shot with occasional GPS waypoints.
  • Image preprocessor enhancements: a configuration manager lets you switch between setups for different portions of the shot, blur for artifact and grain removal, and a quick bypass button.
  • Speedier object and garbage rotoscoping by importing tracker paths.

SynthEyes has been used in features including current Oscar VFX nominee King Kong, Aviator, Blade: Trinity, Brothers Grimm, Jarhead, Magnificent Desolation, Master and Commander, National Treasure, Racing Stripes, and Sky High.

SynthEyes runs on Intel and AMD processors under Windows, or under Mac OSX 10.3.x or later on G5 and G4 processors. A native 64-bit Windows XP Pro 64 version is also available. SynthEyes exports to around 25 common animation and compositing packages.

SynthEyes 2006½ is priced at $399 and is available now. The 2006½ update is free to existing 2006 customers. SynthEyes 2004 customers can upgrade to 2006½ for $149. Quantity and educational-institution discounts are available.

The company website offers a free demonstration version.
