Hello all,
I have not been around for a while but i have a general question to ask about exporting from syntheyes.
While working within syntheyes i notice that figures shown for camera position's etc are shown to 3 decimal places, are the camera figures etc exported also to 3 decimal places ?.
If this is the case and you imported the syntheye's export file into a 3D package that only went as far as 2 decimal places could this cause glitches when in this application with ref to the background plate you've just tracked ???
Thanks in advance

It's possible to get in trouble if you work at it. You're going to have trouble in most packages if you have all of your world located within 0.2 units of
X=23433533233, Y=98259238529, Z=35339852532
People sometimes accomplish this using GPS data; you need to remove the constant offsets.
Far more common is using an incorrect frame rate instead of 29.97 or 23.976. Rounding 23.976 to 23.98 will be big trouble.
(It sounds like you have a specific problem and are asking about a general one.) |

Hello Russ,
Thanks for the reply and also for spotting the obvious that i have a more specific problem than just a general one.
I'm waiting on some tech information from my 3D application people at the moment, i personally dont think my problem is directly related to syntheyes but ill be able to explain my issue more clearly once i have this answer. If i feel advice from you would be beneficial then ill post here again soon or ill apologise for wasting your time in advance.
Many Regards

Hello Again,
Ok, so im having sudden problems exporting to carrara 6 pro, so here's the deal.
Im using HDV 1440x1080 interlaced footage of the uk type which as you'll know is 25fps. Importing the clip into syntheyes as 25fps and interlacing method set to yes and image aspect ratio left at 1.778 as default.
I work on the clip and export to carrara by eovia.
On import into carrara 6 the fps is being set to 25 as expected and my trackers, objects and camera are in place too. Hit play and all SEEMS to look fine. Carrara can 'show the backdrop' image/clip while it goes if desired and this is where the problem is evident.
If i go frame by frame i see that frame zero is also the same as frame 1 like it has been duplicated although my syntheyes camera moves as it should from frame 0 to 1 so i see a shift of all the imported trackers by one frame. Carry on advancing frame by frame while counting and then every 14th frame there after is a duplicate of the one before it. This strange thing keeps this up all the way to the end of the clip where carrara shows that my 0 to 700 frame clip has increased by quite a lot of frames. This is happening with every type of clip that gets loaded with it's relevent syncar file.
Here's an even stranger thing - With the above syntheyes file loaded with it's relevent clip, if i change carrara's fps from 25fps to 24fps then everything lines up perfectly every time.
Also, If i load the same syncar export file as above into carrara 5 then it all works perfectly without any evidence of this duplicated frames issue.
Russ, please dont think im insinuating that this is a syntheyes fault because im not but i ask you to read the above for 2 reasons.
1. I've submitted a bug report to the carrara team in a bid to get this sorted but as is always the case with this sort of thing, the more info i can give them might help to find a solution faster so i ask you if the above issue is recognisable to you in your past experience with exporters from syntheyes, if so, what is likely to cause this sort of problem ?
2. Someone in the Daz 3D forums stated that it's possible that as most of carrara's plugins/extentions needed adjustment when carrara moved from version 5 to version 6 to continue working that maybe the syntheyes one might also need this too.
If any of the above makes sense to you then please let me know.
Kind Regards

Problem dealt with, turned out to be a corrupt file within carrara itself, sorry for wasting your time.
