So for a consumer priced hd camera to work occasionally on personal projects with sytheyes the options are few and becoming fewer every day.
I currently have to trade in my gl2 for a smaller, consumer grade hd that my wife can use as well for taping the baby. (i know this sounds so pro) and I'll have to find the best compromise which allows me to use it with syntheyes.
Am I stuck taking the Panasonic HDC-SD9, because of the 3ccd? To make it worse I just noticed today that this line upgrade has switched to a 3mos [3 cmos] chipset (HDC-SD100)

If anyone has any recommendations as to a consumer hd that does a half-decent job of working in syntheyes, please let me know.

Well, if you personally don't have the need for HD, why not just keep your GL2? The trade-in value won't be too big anyway and consumer HD cams are a dime a dozen already.
Personally I have just bought a HF100 from Canon (which is a CMOS camera) and if you don't go too wild with it you'll be able to get decent tracks out of it. When downrezzed to SD-DVD the image looks way better than my $2100+ 3CCD- GL1 shoots. It's amazing how technology has progressed lately. But I digress.
The important question is: what kind of shots will you be using Syntheyes for? If it's your basic handheld walk around the front porch and inserting stuff in there, then something like the HF100 will do fine.
If you're shooting for something more advanced you probably should stick to CCD. |

Hey thanks for the info I appreciate that.
I suppose what I'll do then is make the switch and by the time i know syntheyes well enough to worry about rolling-shutter I'll hopefully have either some more money or better options. And in the meantime my wife will have some good looking baby videos.
That's always a hard mix of consumer vs prosumer needs.
