|

Hi Forum
This is wonderfull software!! But, once Syntheyes did what the job, I had major problems getting things right in Max. Can I scale an imported Camera and animation to fit a model in max? I did the opposite, scaled the model to fit the imported Camera. Far from ideal, but it worked. I had planned some alignment of track and model in advance, but I never got it quite right. What kind of considerations am I to do? Is there a tutorial or a book that covers this topic?

You can set up the scale in SynthEyes before you export with a distance constraint or adjusting the coordinates of the constrained points in SynthEyes.
Or, you can create a null in max and reparent the camera and trackers to it, then scale it. |

russ, wierd things happens when parenting both the camera and the nulls to a dummy. In my tries, the process offsets the position and orientation of the point helpers in relation to the cam. Although the cam maintains the same animation, the tracks are no longer within camera view. Not a big deal really but I'd love to have em stay for visual feedback.
I'm not a maxscript guy so i can't tell whats happening. |

| whenver i find the need to scale the scene, I simply select the cam in max and scale directly... works so far. |

Don't parent, constrain. Parenting won't keep the trackers and the camera together.

i prefer to group the camera and nulls then link them to a dummy that is located at the origin.

There is a constraint system you can use in Syntheyes to set the distant between to trackers, which works and is mentioned in the tutorials. Or I like to grab the camera and point cloud and scale the whole thing until the geometry matches. One of the MAX guys here also wrote a simple script for scaling the scene off of two trackers.
I have tried linking and constraining the camera and point cloud to a dummy in max and it has never worked. |
