Posted: Mon Mar 28, 2005 6:28 pm Post subject: Poser 5/6 Script Available, with Directions. |
|
|
The export script for Poser 5 and 6 is available in the private password-protected support area for SynthEyes customers. Poser has some limitations that makes it a bit less convenient than one would like, but here are the directions. Note that there is a version variable at the start of the script that you can edit to 5 or 6 depending on your version. It is set up for the new version 6 to start.
The shot must have square pixels to be used properly by Poser, it doesn't understand pixel aspect ratios. So if you have a 720x480 DV source, say, you need to resample it in AE or something to 640x480. Also, the shot has to have a frame rate of exactly 30 fps. This is a drag since normal video is 29.97 fps, and poser thinks it is 29.00 fps, and trouble ensues. One way to get the frame rate conversion without actually mucking up any of the frames is to store the shot out as a frame sequence, then read it back in to your favorite tool as a 30 fps sequence. Then you can save it at 640x480 or other square-pixel size.
Note that you can start with a nice 720x480 29.97 DV shot, track it in SynthEyes, convert it as above for Poser, do your poser animation, render a sequence out of Poser, then composite it back into the original 720x480.
One other thing you need to establish at this time---exactly how many frames there are in your shot. But now to what you need to do in Poser.
1. Start Poser.
2. Set the number of frames of animation, at bottom center of the poser interface, to the correct number of frames. It is essential that you do this now, before reading the python script
3. File/Run Python Script on the python script output from SynthEyes.
4. The Poser Dolly camera will be selected and have the syntheyes camera animation on it. There are little objects for each tracker, and also SynthEyes boxes, cones, etc are brought over into Poser.
Open Question: How to render out of Poser with the animated move background. So far I haven't been able to do this , though by setting up a background material, you can get almost all the frames. From what I see, the right approach would be to render against black with an alpha channel, then composite over the original shot externally.

| Hmmm I looked on the download page. I don't see a script for poser. I even did a "find on this page" was it pulled? Can poser still be used? |

I am trying to migrate to the MAC...is there any diference and can I take the data from the MAC version and use it on my PC where my POSER app is without too much problem.
Thanks for the response.

| The data coming out of SynthEyes and into Poser is just a script, it can be transferred. You may have to jimmy the file names in the script or after you open on the PC. |

| I haven't looked at Poser in a while, but this is something to look up in the Poser manual---either make them unrenderable or delete them after you've finished positioning. |

Hi and thank you for your replay!
When i run the script in poser, i have the key frames for the camera, a pyramid and hundred of point (marker), it's a hard work to make all the markers invisible since we have to select each one..., is it a normal fonctionnement of your script in poser? or is it something wrong with the script?
Thanks. |

| There's nothing the matter with the script. That's only a test export to show the lock. For actual use, you can easily control what trackers are exported from SynthEyes to Poser. |

|
|
-Hey I know this is an old version I hope the fix is simple. When I run the python script in poser 8 from Syntheyes 2007 I get the following error.
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/Users/donaldcunningham/Desktop/Camera Test Zombie/zombie.py", line 13, in ?
scene.SetBackgroundMovie(":Users:donaldcunningham:Desktop:Camera Test Zombie:poser movie file:ZombieBG Move Plate.mov");
SystemError: error return without exception set
-Here are the opening lines of the python script
# Poser Exporter:
# Exported Tue, Feb 07, 2012 03:34:07 PM
# Intended for Poser version 6
scene = poser.Scene();
maker = scene.MovieMaker();
# TODO: unsupported--- scene.SetFramesPerSecond(29.97);
# TODO: set number of frames for bottom timeline
scene.SetOutputRange(0, 1188);
maker.OutputStartFrame(0);
maker.OutputEndFrame(1188);
scene.SetOutputRes(640, 480);
maker.SetOutputRes(640, 480);
scene.SetBackgroundMovie(":Users:donaldcunningham:Desktop:Camera Test Zombie:ZombieBG Move Plate.mov");
+++++I changed some lines to reflect what poser needs to use the python script based on the first post in this thread but that didn't fix the error. My changes are below. Frames, rate and location of BG footage
+++++
# Poser Exporter:
