|
|
Hello all..
This has been discussed before, but the question was never resolved.
I have a completely still camera, with six objects moving around in frame.
They are all easily track-able, but are too small for more than one tracker.
Think of this shot as a still camera, looking directly down, with a few balls rolling around in frame.
I am not in need of a 3D solve, I just want the 2D tracking information from these 6 moving objects. I don't care about Z depth, just Y and X movement: up / down / left / right.
Is there a way to get this 2D object solve information from Syntheyes? I have looked through the tutorials, and searched through the forums without any luck so far.
What I am thinking:
Track all objects with a distance constraint from the camera.. Then there is the problem of solving.. I cannot solve a single tracking marker object. I think it needs at least 4?
(I want to use Syntheyes, as I am a comfortable user, I need the tracking data for use in Maya afterwards, and this job's budget will not allow more software to be purchased).
Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

| What about export->2-d tracker paths? |

| Yes I will try exporting with the script once tracked, but the problem lies within getting an actual track from just a single point to start with.. |

| I've been experimenting with this & you can get the 2d coords but not 3d. |

That's because there ARE no 3d coords with just one tracker. |

| The Happy Friar.. You were able to solve a single point track? All I am after is the 2D data. |

| It can't be done, it's mathematically impossible. You'd have to punch in the coordinates manually. |

Can't get any 3D unless you solve. You can't solve without at least 6 (or so) I believe. You just play it through & it will track the 2D locations. So I'm not even trying to solve, I was just tracking a specific point. Trying to emulate the point tracking Boris/AE has. |

| I wish AE has a point tracker as fast/accurate as Syntheyes. |

Just double checked, you manually add points, play through your footage to do a 2d track, then export the 2d trackers. Works great. |

| Yes! Nice one.. I have got that far.. Exported the trackers as 2D data, but here lies the problem of transferring that data onto objects in my maya scene... |

Martin Kulig posted his private syntheyes to maya pipeline in the forum.
http://ssontech.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1257
It has a 2d to maya exporter that exports 2d trackers in the screen space of the imported camera. Parent a object on them and animate the Screen space Z axis to fill the missing depth information. |
