Hello all,
Major problems here & cant work out where the problem is, all worked fine a short while ago but now i have severe problems i cant identify. If anyone can help im going to have to spell it out step by step just to make sure i hav'nt screwed up my workflow.
I use the Lens Distortion workflow like i always have, particulars as follows:
Origonal Footage 1440 x 1080(Interlaced) PAR 1.33 Cineform HD Codec v7.1.7 compressed AVI. Filmed on a Sony HDR-FX1 at it's widest setting. Final solve calculated distortion as -0.01756 and the final overal Error is 0.272322 with a Field of view of 58.449 at Export time.
1. Matchmove this clip after loading it up into 2011 (build 1005) with Interlacing option set to 'Yes', after innicial track & solve Syntheyes calculates the distortion and i hit 'Lens Workflow' button and choose the second Redistorted(2) option, clip undistorts and i complete the tracking process.
2. padded /undistorted clip now measures 1584 x 1188 - When ready i save this sequence and also export for my 3D package as well as saving another version of the SNI file.
3. Start 3D package & import the export file, replace the origonal backdrop footage with the Undistorted version - All looks great here so the CG work is done & rendered out again at 1584 x 1188 PAR 1.33 which matches the 'undistorted' plate size (progressive sequence rendered here as the origonal footage is to be De-interlaced for the final composite).
4. Restart Syntheyes (with the undistorted version of the scene file) and from Shot menu choose 'Change shot images' and select 'Redistort CGI' - After Selecting my Undistorted CG sequence syntheyes applies the distortion and on checking, the frame size has dropped from the origonal 1584 x 1188 back down to 1440 x 1080 as expected.
5. I output this sequence again using save sequence button to give me my 'Distorted' CG sequence at 1440 x 1080 for the composite.
Ok, unless i have had a major 'mind meld' all should be correct thus far, please correct me if the above has something wrong or missing.
6. I load up my origonal distorted 1440 x 1080 footage into my compositor followed by my new syntheyes distorted 1440 x 1080 CG sequence, all pretty simple but i have the following problem:
a. The CG part gently wiggles around in relation to the backdrop on every frame throughout the whole sequence - This never happened the last time i did a matchmove a few months ago (was using the old version of syntheyes then) Also, i done a test render from my 3D app to test the matchmove stability (with the undistorted backdrop in place) all showed perfectly in this test.
b. Here is the interesting part i can not get my head around, both these clips are so say distorted and both exactly the same resolution etc, there was no evidence of wiggling or sliding throughout my workflow either in syntheyes or in my 3D App, this only appears in the composite.
The most important thing here is if i leave my distorted CG plate in the compositor and remove the 1440 x 1080 distorted background clip, load up the 'UNDISTORTED' plate which syntheyes origonally produced for my 3D App which is at 1584 x 1188 (allowing it to stay oversized in the 1440 x 1080 composition) then the CG matches perfectly to this plate. If i shrink this undistorted plate to fit the 1440 comp then i see no wiggling like before but there is a little subtle sliding.
How on earth can my syntheyes distorted CG sequence 'not' match up to the 'origonal distorted footage' yet it does perfectly match up to the syntheyes produced 'Undistorted backdrop sequence' made for my 3D app stage (that is providing i leave it oversized in the composite).
Im Confussed as hell, can anyone make sense of this ????
Thanks Very much to anyone who might help.
