Lots of tracking/matchmoving in the upcoming ABC TV series Flash Forward. I used SynthEyes on all the shots I worked on.
And as always, the text effects in Fringe continue in Season 2. |

LFGabel: I think he knows that if you used other software than SynthEyes, you would never finish the shots in time/cost given you by the production, you would have to stop them half-way through, unfinished, wobbly, jumpy
Perfect matchmoves coming from time/cost-constrained production environment, that's what gives SynthEyes away |

sorry it took me so long to check back. I was probably watching Fringe . Of course there is no way I could tell without a doubt that it was syntheyes. I just saw the shots and immediately thought of hitting the Green Auto button in syntheyes. Compared to other software it speeds through those steady shots with little to no supervision. And since there are sometimes several 3D titles, even with real world lighting I figured it would be the best way to get it done fast. |

Even when using the automatic tracking, there is still a *lot* of manual work that has to be done to ensure a proper match. It's even more critical when adding proxy geometry to stand in for other structures.
It's never as easy as pressing the green button. |

| lol. I was actually thinking yesterday that i didnt do you justice by referring to the green button. There are obviously many shots that need alot more work. Do you do all of the work on those shots or just the matchmoving? Because I liked the lighthouse effect on last nights episode. |

I mostly do the matchmoving on the text shots. In the past three seasons, I have done all the work on probably half a dozen shots. It's not something I'm super interested in.
In fact, since SynthEyes is so straight forward to accomplish good matchmoving, I have been loosing work due to people higher up in the production chain learning the software. I usually get the long, more challenging shots. |
