Hello all,
I need some help here......
When working in Syntheyes i have it set up using the Z-up system as my 3D app is set to use Z-up also.....No probs here.
FXhome recently released a new 3D compositing package called Hitfilm, it only uses the .ma(maya) option to import 3D tracking data but i believe Maya uses the Y-up system (by Default). When i export to Maya in my current Z-up setting, the Hitfilm import animates the camera correctly but the camera & trackers are twisted right out of whack a bit like you never bothered setting up a co-ordinate system while in syntheyes.
Somehow, i need to export to both a Z-up to support my 3D app and Y-up to support Hitfilm at the same time but i dont know how to do this.
The manual says you can change the Z-up setting in Preferences at any time but when i do the indicators in the viewport boxes dont change, they only seem to change when i close and restart Syntheyes.
Is there a way i can export from Syntheyes to both these opposing formats or do the Hitfilm Dev's need to get the issue sorted at their end ?????
Thanks for any help

| Have you tried exporting to both to see if it works? |

Hey Kid,
Yes i have but it does'nt work out.
Because i have Syntheyes set to Z-up, the export to my 3D app works absolutely fine as it is a Z-up system too and the relevent exporter is designed specifically for my 3D app. Exporting to Maya immediatly after gives me a camera almost pointing downwards once it is imported into Hitfilm.
I think it's because Maya is Y-up by default. I assume the problem here is that the order in which the X, Y and Z data is layed out in the maya export file is in a different order to the Carrara By Eovia export file.
If i cant find an answer i may have to resort to Russ and official Tech Support

| The maya script file has z/y up variables. Maybe if you duplicate the script file, give it a new name in the script file, change it from Z up to Y up, then you could have a maya file that exports Y up & one that exports Z up. |
