Hello again,
Have a slightly different issue here i need help on....
Following the Lens Distortion Workflow, Syntheyes has produced an undistorted and padded up version of my footage for use in my 3D app which has an enlarged resolution of 1566 x 1176 @ 1.7778 IAR.
I want to output this enlarged sequence as an AVI using the Cineform HD v7.1.7 Codec as my 3D app decompresses this extremely fast in the 3D View compared to most other options i've tried, but unfortunatly, Cineform requires the horizontal resolution to be divisable by 16 and produce a whole number or encoding crashes, this only applies to the horizontal pixel count, the vertical count can be anything it wants to be strangely enough.
EG
1566 x 1176 = 1566 / 16 = 97.875 = Not a whole number = Crash
1568 x **** = 1568 / 16 = 98 = This will Encode Fine
As you can see from the above, 1566 / 16 produces a floating point result which the cineform codec cant do but by increasing the horizontal resolution to the nearest figure divisable by 16 (1568), it will work.
I emailed Russ over this and he told me i can add extra padding on all 4 sides in the preprocessor to bring the sequence up the extra x2 horizontal pixels to make the sequence compatible but i still cant work out exactly how to do this, i am a matchmoving beginner and have had no pro training, i understand WHAT he means but cant work out how to impliment it.
Does anyone understand exactly what Russ means, i dont want to bother him again.....
Step by Step instructions probibly Required ! !
Thanks

| For a "heck, this will get it done!" kind of fix, I'd say export out to individual frames, then use an NLE (Blender may even be ok), import the stills then re-export to your desired size & format. I know if you're using Vegas you would make the project the size/settings you want, import the still sequence, plop it on the TL & it will auto-pad the video with black. |
