Hi Trackers!
Getting ready to shoot a big scene that involves vehicles chasing down a road. We'll be the lead car focusing on a main car being pursued by another in the distance. The vehicle in the distance will be complete cgi. I've done my fair share of simple tracking with Syntheyes, but this is a bit more ambitious, so I want to do my homework. We'll most likely drive at a modest speed with slight undercranking for a high-speed look filming with Panasonic HPX170, 24PN. I have yet to shoot a serious moving shot like this, plus we'd really like 24p for that "filmic" quality, but will this lead to far too much blur? Any ideas, or recommendations?
Thanks! |

| It would certainly help to turn up the shutter speed. Blurriness isn't an instant death to the trackability of the scene, but it usually ends up being more work with supervised tracking. Something I'm experimenting with now is trying to film with a high shutter speed, then blur the scene in post to make it look like it was filmed with a normal shutter speed. |
