OK..
I have read the posts regarding video cameras.
CCD = good
CMOS = bad.

My old GL-1 has CCD but it doesnt seem to work good for Syntheyes.
There is no setting for progressive or with fields for recording.

Could it be how I capture it possibly (I use Premier Pro CS3)?

I will gladly buy a better video camera (I love to have an excuse to buy stuff) if I can just sort through the details...

1. is my GL-1 good for tracking or not?
2. What is the best quality video camera for under 2k for use with syntheyes?

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
David

EDIT: the footage I shot was done with image stabilization on. It is correct to assume that is wrong?

Don't use image stabilization.

Switch it to "Frame mode" (not normal) above the red "record" thumb button.

You need to be in "A" mode or higher (not "Green square" recording mode).

I tried recording a segment using frames mode and it was really bad.

I seem to recall somewhere that frame mode on the GL1 doesn't appear to use the full resolution - and you can prove it by filming a patterned card while on a tripod. A frame grab should be the same in interlaced and non-interlaced mode, but the non-interlaced is noticeably fuzzier.

My XM1 (the PAL equivalent of the GL1) is as clear in frame mode as it is in normal mode, so I have no idea if it's true.

Thanks for the feed back.

i have tried to salvage using my GL1 at all costs but it seems it is not going to work.

It looks Like I am going to head down the path of buying a HD camera.

What an adventure though..... So many cameras (Yes I know CCD only).
