Hi,

I have a shot I want to export to AE using 3d space. The camera always ends up in a weird position. The goal is to use AE to add effects that are attached to the person in the footage.

I've tried playing with the world size but have had little to no success. Would anyone with more experience please explain to me why the camera is in the top left corner and why I can't seem to get the FOV and focal length correct?

Thanks

Well,
Its always hard without seeing your solve, but an initial guess is that your camera may not be oriented properly in SYN. If you are doing a regular 3D solve (not a nodal/tripod solve), then you should have set a coordinate system up for the "ground." The origin will be the point at 0,0,0. If you look in your views, make sure the camera is properly aligned in SYN. If it is not (an easy way to tell is to drop in an "earthling" object from the top view, and it should look like it is standing on the ground in the perspective view), then you need to adjust the cameras alignment.
To do this, go to the object panel, select Camera01 from the second drop down box, then hit the lock icon, make sure the button says world on it (not object - it is a toggle button), then hit whole button. You can then select the rotate tool, go to the various views and rotate world to align. Objects should then be able to be dropped onto the ground plane from top view and look right in perspective.
I hope this helps.
Erik
