Not sure if any of what I am experiencing is in the forums. This is the second project I have used syntheyes for. Previous project this wasn't an issue.
The MA file went into maya and was matched.
Currently I have a scene that looks perfect in Syntheyes. The plane I added to the scene matches. All of that.
Exporting to Maya through Maya Ascii .
Any object slips and slides. I have no idea if there are settings in Maya 2008 I need to be using, but something isn't right. Last time it worked well, what could be going on in the conversion? Anyone have any ideas or tips of what I missed? I need to get an example of what I'm doing by tomorrow afternoon to get them to go forward with the idea. Otherwise, no tracking and its going to be boring.
Thanks for any help, I'm totally pulling my hair out.
Footage went in as NTSC , lower field, it was shot on a P2 camera. Perfect in SynthEyes , off in maya. Thanks. |

I'm going to check to see if the camera settings the camera that came in with Maya match the ones in Syntheyes.
I have the overright from syntheyes selected when I export, but who knows.
I do get an error when I bring the scene in, but I believe thats the geometry plane from Syntheyes I used to test the scene than anything else. Maya can't understand the geometry, which is fine. Don't need it. I do, however, need the thing to look as good as it does in Syntheyes. Maybe I've worked too long on this. |

Ok, looking at this further, the trackers might not really be off per say.
The footage definitely is.
I put it into Snytheyes as NTSC, lower field so it separated the frames, made the comp 59. something frames one field each frame, I would assume.
Now, when I export it, maya probably has no idea how to read that so it makes the footage frame by frame, both fields, even though I tracked to lower field in syntheyes? Is that possible. If so, what the work around for this to make both programs match?
Its just about the only thing I can think isn't matching and I can't believe this isn't something normal.
Alright, thats probably my last post on this until someone has an idea, or I figure out the issue. |

well thanks for letting me use the forum for my own therapy haha ,
I went back in and instead of telling snytheyes that my footage was lower field first under interlacing...I just clicked "YES" and kept it at the field frame number instead of one field per frame and then retracked all my footage.
Though, I think thats cleaner separating the fields, this works with Maya better. Live and learn. |

Hah. Everyone pay attention - this is called troubleshooting and is a valuable skill to possess. Rarely do we see it so clearly outlined
Glad you figured out the issue. |

thanks, well...had to get it done right, ha.
The other little thing with Maya many may or may not realize, is the camera attributes has a button for the footage plane...
fit to resolution or fit to backplane, something like that...
anyway, that will put the footage where it needs to be to match the track points. Its not on by default and it'll get ya. |
