.... Distortion
When I compute trajectory I use automatic and don´t more think about this value. .... with automatic Distortion is final solution more accurate then without it (mean error hpix). I track about 50 shots and each time distortion is diffrent but focal length is same? I tought distortion change with focal length value? ..... or value is changing so with distance betwean camera and object?

I´m able calibrate camera for distortion? I mean shot cube with wire (for example 2metears betwean camera and cube) in my case constant focal length 4,5. And after calculate distortion in AE. After I use this value for other shot with 4,5 focal length as constant. Because I´m not able compute distortion in each shot.

Usually you should use SynthEyes to generate "clean" plates with no distortion, and use those plates in 3dsmax, not the distorted ones.

If you have SynthEyes correct the distortion, and take that track into 3dsmax and use it with the distorted plates, it will not match! The track will match the clean plates.

... plates = is background "I know this term from max" ? (source data from camera)
.... i know it was my very mistake. It was problem with shots were was horizont but other shots were quite clean. Next project will be more accurate then this -) Tomorrow I shot future highway in Slovakia. They haven´t small halicopter they have only MI-8 (http://www.aerocentrum.cz/pict/mi8/mi8_2big.jpg) I hope the weather will be good and pilot don´t drink.

today I write to Sony in Czech Republic and I want know more information about Carl Zeiss value (Sony HDR-FX1) .... and they answer me .... Sony HDR-FX1 isn´t profesional serie. We don´t give information about this value. And write ..... we are able quarantee objective value in more expensive model (about 1milion czech crown 1dolars=22crown) Carl Zeiss don´t answer me -(

Oops - "my mate".

Is there any option in phpBB to turn on edits, at least while there are no replies...?

short story with value distortion ..... Last week I wrote two e-mail ...to Sony in Czech Republic and to Carl Zeiss Deutschland

Sony
We didn´t mention this value for customers.
This value depend on set up focal lengh and iris
Generally is ideal use focal lengh betwean 10%-90%
For more information contact Carl Zeiss

Carl Zeiss
Unfortunately, the built-in Vario Sonnar lens of the Sony HDR-FX 1 is manufactured, distributed and serviced by our partner Sony. So we cannot provide the requested distorsion data for this lens.
Furthermore, most of this camcorders do an online distorsion correction that cannot be influenced by the user. So the distorsion data of a built-in lens may not help you that much.
For further information, please contact Sony.

..... finaly... nobody is able give me official value about distortion

I try own calibrate camera for distortion. Use shot from hall square floor tile (ideal for distortion). When I finish calibration I agree with rule shot with focal lengh betwean 10%-90%.
I post two preview with two value focal lengh 4.5 and 6 (SONY HDR-FX1 focal lengh - range - 4.5-54)

.... pictures show more then words
