A Letter from a User!

We received the following letter from a SynthEyes user/pundit. We didn't know quite what to do with it, so we though we'd put it here for your edification and entertainment:

Dear Russ Andersson,

In many ways SynthEyes is a great software package. Unfortunately, after 5 to 10 minutes of very simple set up time I was forced to wait an unbearable 5.93487 seconds for SynthEyes to calculate the final camera track. Yeah, sure the track was perfect, but come on. Six seconds? To solve a camera track? I can't have delays like that.

Futhermore how can I justify my job to my employer if the software is so easy? Tracking should take hours not minutes. For example, on a tricky shot, with boujou, I used to be able to load a sequence of frames, set it to go, and leave it for a few hours, and when it failed, I could then tell my boss, "boujou couldn't solve it. Give me a few more hours to try it again." I could go back and forth with my boss this way, killing countless hours and sometimes days, on a single shot, meanwhile showing my boss what a "hard worker" I was. Now, I finish that tricky shot in minutes. And of course it is perfect. Grrrr!!!

Oh, and on my freelance tracking projects, your ridiculous pricing scheme has saved me over $9,600. I was looking forward to that $10,000 tax deduction this year from buying boujou. Now I have to buy a couple more computers and some more software to offset the the money I saved buying SynthEyes. When am I going to find time to do that? I sure won't be able to do it while that copy of boujou I didn't buy sits for hours on a shot it would have surely failed on. Thanks a lot Russ Andersson.

And you know what? During the time I have taken to write this letter so far, SynthEyes has batch solved three more tracking shots. Damn you, Mr Andersson. At this rate, we are going to have all of the hundreds of tracking shots done for this movie, literally months ahead of schedule. Did you hear that? Months! How is my boss going to hide this fact from the movie producers? We do bill the movie studios for this work you know.

I don't even know what else to say to you about SynthEyes. You have made my daily life of monotonous tracking into a living hell of accuracy and efficiency. All for $349.00.
