Registration and Authorization Tutorial
Though we've tried to make the directions in the emails and the manual as clear as possible, some people find visual directions helpful. There are two separate tutorial movies:
- Part One: how to register SynthEyes and install your temporary authorization
- Part Two: how to install your temporary authorization and set up Customer Care, once your permanent authorization arrives.
In SynthEyes 2008, we changed from using < and > to using ( and ) to enclose the authorization data (because some web-based email systems were trashing the data). The process is the same with the parentheses as with brackets.
Top Support Issues
If you are having trouble getting license information to stick, the first thing is to confirm that you are copying the right information onto the clipboard by pasting into TextEdit or Notepad.
Vista/Win7 You need to start SynthEyes using "Run as Adminstrator" to install licensing or auto-update information. See the support page.
Mac OSX Sometimes you can not write some of your own files, typically when IT Staff is involved. See "Setting Permissions on a Mac" on the support page.
Part One (~10 MB, 5m30s)
Note: If the registration form keeps telling you that all fields need to be filled out, but they already are, please change any characters with accent marks to their non-accented equivalents. Thanks.
If your temporary license has lapsed, please include "EXPIRED" at the start of the subject line when you send your registration data.
Part Two (~4 MB, 3m )
Notes:
- The second tutorial is shown at 50% actual size to save space. You can right-click the tutorial and Save As, then have Quicktime display double-size if you like.
- The examples show screen captures from a Mac, but the process is the same on a PC.
